What we do

The mission of the Federation is to promote the highest level of aviation safety worldwide and to be the global advocate of the piloting profession; providing representation, services, and support to both our members and the aviation industry.

Aligned with ICAO Regional Structure

IFALPA’s regional organisation mirrors the ICAO regional framework, enabling structured and consistent engagement across all major areas of international aviation. This alignment ensures that pilot representation is coordinated in a way that reflects the realities of regional regulatory environments and decision-making processes, particularly within ICAO Regional Offices. It also allows the Federation to address aviation matters at the appropriate level, where standards and guidance are developed and implemented.

Effective Regional Advocacy

The regional structure enables IFALPA to bring forward issues that are specific to local operational environments, ensuring they are considered in relevant ICAO forums and regional safety groups. This approach strengthens the ability to address matters related to flight safety, security, and sustainability in a targeted and timely manner, while ensuring that regional specificities are properly reflected in international discussions.

Closer Engagement with Stakeholders

By operating through defined ICAO-aligned regions, IFALPA maintains closer and more continuous engagement with regional authorities, regulatory bodies, and aviation stakeholders. This facilitates constructive dialogue and improves the responsiveness of the Federation to emerging issues, while fostering stronger relationships with organisations responsible for implementing aviation policy at regional and sub-regional levels.

The regional model ensures that local and regional perspectives are effectively integrated into IFALPA’s global work. Issues identified at regional level are elevated in a structured manner to the international stage, supporting coherent policy development and ensuring that operational realities are reflected in global safety, security, and sustainability initiatives. This strengthens both the consistency and relevance of IFALPA’s overall advocacy.
