Artificial Intelligence in Civil Aviation – ECA & IFALPA

This paper presents the joint ECA & IFALPA perspective on the responsible integration of AI into civil aviation. While AI can strengthen decision-making, data analysis, and safety oversight – human perception, intuition, and judgment remain indispensable. The paper outlines regulatory priorities, calibrated trust, transparent and explainable systems, strong data governance, privacy protection, cybersecurity, and training that preserves core pilot competencies. It ultimately asserts that AI must support, not replace, pilots, with humans retaining full control and accountability in all operations.
