Pilot advocacy development and applied aviation best practices
One of IFALPA’s core functions is to promote and enhance the role and status of professional pilots through training and education. To this end, IFALPA offers programmes and seminars tailored to both new volunteers and experienced representatives.
The professional development portfolio covers key areas such as negotiation training, positive safety culture, human factors and leadership, runway and airport safety, and fatigue risk management.
Delivered by field experts, the IFALPA training concept and portfolio are designed to strengthen expertise, support effective representation, and advance professional standards across the pilot community.
Global Training Framework & International Partnerships
IFALPA training is developed within a global framework, ensuring relevance across diverse operational environments while promoting the exchange of best practices between regions.
In addition, IFALPA has developed partnerships with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and ICAO to support the delivery of its courses, further strengthening alignment with international standards and enhancing collaboration within the global aviation community.

Scholarships
The InterPilot Aviation Safety Foundation (IPASF) is an independent, non-profit international organisation that works in partnership with IFALPA to advance the piloting profession by improving access to aviation safety, training, and education. It provides financial assistance, including scholarships and bursaries, to individuals wishing to attend relevant aviation safety and professional development programmes. Most IFALPA courses are eligible for support.
Through this assistance, IPASF enables broader participation in high-quality training opportunities that enhance safety knowledge, reinforce professional standards, and strengthen expertise across the global pilot community.
Aircraft Accident Investigation Programme
IFALPA encourages pilots to undertake accident investigation training in coordination with their civil aviation authority to strengthen their ability to contribute effectively to safety investigations. Through the IFALPA Accident Investigation scheme, qualified pilots may be nominated to support State investigations as advisors or accredited representatives, ensuring operational expertise is represented in the investigative process.
Active pilot participation, whether as accredited investigators or subject matter experts, is considered essential to enhancing the quality, credibility, and safety outcomes of aviation accident investigations.
