Request for Mutual Assistance for BALPA - Bristow Helicopters Pilots

February 22, 2024

IFALPA has been informed that the British Airline Pilot Association (BALPA) has called for industrial action at Bristow Helicopters. The union has been negotiating with the airline management for more than a year without
reaching an agreement regarding salary and working conditions. Bristow Helicopters covers two sectors - Gas and Oil - in the North of the North Sea as well as providing Search and Rescue services for the whole of the United Kingdom. Having been negotiating with Bristow management about a pay settlement for over a year now without any meaningful offers being put forward by the company, Bristow pilots members of BALPA have voted for strike action on a 92.74% turnout with 96.31% of members returning a Yes vote. It’s an emphatic endorsement for the action and all the members have shown extraordinary unity in what has been a very long and drawn out campaign.

On behalf of the Bristow Helicopter pilots, and as per the IFALPA Industrial Manual (Request for Submissions and Representations (2.4.7), BALPA is requesting Letters of Support for Bristow Helicopter pilots to be sent to
the attention of Michelle Brierley, National Officer [email protected] and [email protected].

Strike actions will take place on different days between 3 March 2024 and 26 March 2024. Additionally, if you happen to be in Aberdeen Airport on 4, 11, 18 and 25 March, BALPA will be running a strike centre in the Crowne Plaza Aberdeen Airport between 0800 and 1800. IFALPA colleagues are very welcome to drop in and have a coffee with Bristow Helicopter pilots.

BALPA will keep IFALPA and its Member Associations informed of any further developments.
