Dear Colleagues,
IFALPA has been informed by our newest Member Association, the Asociacion de Pilotos de LATAM Ecuador (ASOPLANE) that they have been engaged for the past ten months in intense negotiations with LATAM management for the renewal of their Collective Labour Agreement, which expired in 2023. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an Addendum to the CLA was agreed and signed, from July 2020 to 31 December 2023. This Addendum removed several benefits like the annual salary increases, the monthly and annual flex hour values, transportation bonuses were also reduced, and significant changes were made to flight scheduling, which introduced split duty rosters, affecting their quality of life and rest, and increasing the cases of fatigue and medical leave.
Unfortunately, LATAM management believes that the basis for negotiations for a new CLA are the conditions set out in the 2020-2023 temporary Covid Addendum and not the original 2019-2023 CLA. ASOPLANE rejects this position completely and believes it to be disingenuous. A final proposal has been presented by the airline management on 24 July 2024. This proposal (considered insufficient by the negotiating team) will be presented to the ASOPLANE General Assembly on 30 July 2024.
The support from the worldwide pilot community is needed and will be much appreciated if it is available to be presented during the General Assembly, so the pilots of LATAM Ecuador can feel and understand the global support that comes with IFALPA membership.
Based on the above, on behalf of LATAM Ecuador Pilots, ASOPLANE is requesting the Mutual Assistance outlined below, as per the IFALPA Industrial Manual, with immediate effect:
• Submissions and Representations (Para. 2.5.7)
Please send your letters of support and/or support videos for LATAM Ecuador pilots to the attention of Captain Diego Bastidas, President of ASOPLANE [email protected] and CC [email protected]
ASOPLANE will keep IFALPA and its Member Associations informed of any further developments.
In Unity
