FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MONTREAL, Canada – The International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) expresses its deep sadness over the accident involving a CHC Sikorsky S-92 operating Rescue 116 for the Irish Coast Guard.
IFALPA extends its most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Captain Dara Fitzpatrick, and its support and wishes to the loved ones of missing crew members Captain Mark Duffy, Paul Ormsby and Ciarán Smith.
Whilst the search and rescue efforts are taking place, IFALPA stresses the need to avoid speculation as to what happened to the aircraft. The Federation has reached out to its Member Association in Ireland, IALPA, and made its accredited accident investigators available to the Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) for advice or consultation during both the investigation process and the drafting of the accident report and related safety recommendations.
