The role of the LEG Committee is to provide legal advice to the Federation; responding to requests for legal opinions and the development of positions on legal issues, providing legal support and advice to IFALPA’s representatives at International Organisations, and undertaking specific legal projects, as required by the Executive Board or Conference.
Gad Ariel is a Captain on the Boeing 777 and an instructor and check pilot on Boeing 737 NG. An air line pilot since 2000, Captain Ariel has 42 years of aviation experience and is a Certified Aviation Accident Investigator. Captain Ariel has also been a lawyer (L.L.B.) since 1990, specializing in Business, Regulatory, Labor and Aviation Law. He formerly served on the board of ISRALPA.
John E. (Jay) Wells, J.D., LL.M., has over thirty years’ experience handling aviation, labor, regulatory, administrative, international, employment and business law matters including aviation accident and incident investigation, representation and litigation. He has served as in-house legal counsel to ALPA International since 2000. Prior to joining ALPA, Jay worked in the U.S. Department of Justice Aviation Section and in private practice. He holds commercial pilot and flight instructor licenses.
